We all want to be happy. We want to live in a happy world.
Despite our wish, we see daily suffering. We see homeless families on the subway and under bridges. We hear about horrific stories of child rape, suicide bombings, and school shootings on the news. There are wars raging in other countries; there are hate crimes being committed right here in the United States.
These news stories tend to trigger sadness, hopelessness, fear, disgust- unpleasant feelings that work against our goal to live in happiness.
The more suffering we experience due to hearing these stories, the more suffering exists in the world.
So let’s resolve to turn it around.
The next time we hear about sadness in our world, let’s use it to ignite our passion for a happy world. Let’s be inspired to generate more love. Let’s be inspired to forgive, to change, and to give more hugs.
A big HUG,
Reagan

Hi everyone!
I’m working on some excited stuff on my end- writing music and learning the banjo and continuing my spiritual classes.
For that reason, I’ve decided to take a break fromVeggieShoe, though I’ll leave the site up as is for now.
I wish you all the best and I will let you know when I return!
Love

Naturally we want to surround ourselves with kind, patient, loving people.
But even with the best people, we encounter irritating situations. Sometimes our friend wakes up on the wrong side of the bed or a coworker lashes out at us for no reason.
In these moments, we have an opportunity to generate no-strings-attached real love.
As India.Arie says in “Wings of Forgiveness,” The game of love is about how much we can take, but real love is about how much we can give.
Can we give others the space to make mistakes? Be grumpy? Be too close? Be too far away?
Learning how to give unconditional love is a journey. We can start by forgiving ourselves for the mistakes we made and will make. Then, we can try to grant that same forgiveness to the world around us.
Lots of love, Reagan

Hi all!
I’ve decided to start expanding my blog with sections I’ll call “Walking in love” in which I will discuss what I have learned on my spiritual journey. I hope you will enjoy them and let me know your own views!
Fuel your passion
When we fight a good fight- for animals, for gay rights, for women’s rights, for the safety of others, for peace- we fight for love. As we fight for what’s right, it’s beneficial to check our inner inspiration for doing so. Are we the change we want to see?
It seems natural to feel angry towards those who are mean, but if we hold anger in our hearts, we work against our own cause.
Therefore, it’s important to find compassion for those who seem to be against us. As Buddha Shakyamuni said, “Hatred does not cease through hatred but through love alone they cease.” (From ViewonBuddhism.org)
Find compassion
One method for tapping into compassion is to remember that at our core, each of us simply wants to be happy. Not all of us go about that quest in perfect ways, but I think we can find compassion for the mutual, simple desire to be happy.
Thanks for reading!
